Cora Lee Pierce, 86

July 4, 1937 — January 7, 2024

Cora Lee Young Pierce passed away Sunday, January 7, 2024 at the North Mississippi Medical Center.  She was 86 years old.  Born July 4, 1937 in Panola County, Cora Lee was the daughter of Leroy and Ella Ruth Epps Young.  She was formerly a resident of Haleyville, Alabama before relocating to Belden in order to be closer to family.  A woman of strong faith and Christian principles, Cora was a dedicated member of Corinth Heights Baptist Church where she found great joy in serving others.  On January 11, 1959, she married the love of her life, Albert L. Pierce and they were blessed with 64 years together before his passing on May 11, 2023.  Cora Lee spent her life taking care of children in her home.  She also was famous for her beautifully decorated cakes and the wonderful meals she always prepared with love.  Cora was a Mississippi State fan and enjoyed traveling.



Cora Lee leaves behind her three children, Albert “Al” Pierce Jr. (Rhonda) of Horn Lake, Jimmy Pierce (Peggy) of Tupelo, and Renee McClurkan (Jim) of Amory; two grandchildren, Randall Pierce of Horn Lake and Brett Pierce (Allie) of New Albany; two great-grandchildren, Pharis and Addie Caroline; her siblings, David Young (Sandra) of Laurel, Mildred Ann Aderholt (David) of Ooltewah, Tennessee, Charles Young (Becky) of Hernando, and Philip Young of Milton, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Ella Young; her husband, Albert L. Pierce; two brothers, William Young and his wife, Elizabeth, and Timmy Young; and a sister-in-law, Teresa Young.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. until service time Thursday, January 11, 2023 at Pegues, Tupelo.

Services honoring Cora Lee’s memory will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Jefferson Street Chapel with Rev. Dr. Jim McClurkan and Dr. G. Lance Hogan officiating.   Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley.

Pallbearers will be Randall Pierce, Brett Pierce, Charles Young, David Young, Philip Young, Scott Young, David Adderholt, and Michael Casias.
