Crime Stoppers banquet draws local law enforcement officers
New Albany, MS – Law enforcement officers from Union County and New Albany attended the Crime Stoppers of Northeast Mississippi banquet, Wednesday, January 25.
Crime Stoppers Northeast MS is an organization that raises money and makes it available to law enforcement agencies.It is associated with Mississippi Crime Stoppers, Crime Stoppers USA, and Crime Stoppers International. The organization pays anonymous callers for information leading to the arrest of anyone who committed a felony crime.
Officers working to solve felony crimes offer Crime Stopper money as a reward to encourage leads. Persons who come forward with knowledge of criminal acts can earn rewards when crimes are solved.
Crime Stoppers Northeast MS serves law enforcement in nine counties
Several hundred law enforcement officers and friends of law enforcement attended the event at The Summit Center in Tupelo. Crime Stoppers Northeast MS works with law enforcement agencies in several counties: Alcorn, Chickasaw, Itawamba, Lee, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Tippah, Tishomingo and Union.
Mississippi Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann, the event speaker, is a notable supporter of law enforcement work in Mississippi.
Those attending from Union County included Sheriff Jimmy Edwards, Chief Deputy Johnny Bell, and Deputy Sheriff Chris Chapple.
New Albany Chief of Police Chris Robertson attended the event, as did Jim Owen, representing the office of First District U. S. Congressman Trent Kelly.
