Tupelo- Donnie W. Hester “DON-327”, 84, passed away on May 24, 2026. Don was born Feb. 23, 1942, to parents Claude Mitchell and Latchepelle Monaghan Hester. Don had a deep love for cars, motors and anything that would go fast at an early age. He began a lifelong successful career as a respected car dealer with his brother Dan Hester. He was co-owner of Little Kar City, known as the first franchise dealer of Toyota cars in the Tupelo area. He was most proud to be famously known as “327”, “Dandy Don”, and “Tupelo Flash” that came with his success in driving late models in dirt track racing all over the South. His iconic orange race car #327 took him to nearly 600 victory wins. He is a true legend of the sport and was honored to be acknowledged for his many accomplishments by being inducted in the National Dirt Track Racing Hall of Fame. Don lived his life full and fast and in his own unique fashion. He had a big smile, an infectious laugh and a way to tell stories with his own words and phrases.
No public ceremony will be held. Don would be happy to know his countless memories and stories will continue to be told as his legacy continues among those he knew and loved him. Don was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Dan Hester, Herman Hester, Gara Chism, Claudene Gann, Irma Hester and Stella Teem.
Survivors include his 3 daughters, Donna Jean Hester Hankins (Chuck), Gara Donese Hester Sudduth (Tommy), Victoria Deion Hester, 2 grandsons, Clay Sudduth (Lily), Jay Sudduth (Hannah) and 3 great grandchildren.
