Fagin Lamar Smith, 81

Lifelong “Tire Salesman”, Fagin Lamar Smith, 81, resident of Tippah County, passed away peacefully Thursday January 26, 2023, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, MS.



Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Fagin will be 1 PM, Monday January 30, 2023, in the Heritage Chapel of The Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Street officiating. Graveside service will follow in The Pentecostal Church of Blue Mountain Cemetery.

Mr. Fagin was born January 12, 1942, in Tippah County to the late Herman and Erin Smith and he received his education in the South Tippah School District. Owner and Operator of Fagin’s Tire Shop, he put in thirty-one years, before his retirement in 2019. He was blessed with the opportunity to meet and make new friends through his business. His mission was to do his best, work hard, and most importantly, help others.

Siting back with a cold drink, while watching his geese and feeding his fish were favorite pastimes. He made an honest living and loved spending his earnings on things he enjoyed. Mr. Fagin was very adventures, and he never took the main road. If he saw a road he had never been down, he always took it, even though it often left him lost. He was full of life, very easy-going, and always had a smile on his face. Mr. Fagin was a friend to many and will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his partner, Melinda Reed, those left to cherish memories include two sons, Philip Lamar Smith (Melisa) and Brandon Reed (Chrissy), one daughter, Jessica Norwood (Adam), two sisters, Glenda Street (Joe) and Cynthia Kellum (Joe), two brothers, Sherman Smith (Shirley) and Cline Smith, seven grandchildren, two greatgrandchildren, and his canine companion, Rosa.
