Gary Lee Cardwell, 62

August 31, 1961 – October 28, 2023

Gary Lee Cardwell, 62, resident of Walnut passed away Saturday October 28, 2023, at his home.



Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Cardwell will be 2 PM Thursday November 2, 2023, in the Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Doc Dollar and Bro. Rick Cisowski officiating. Visitation will be 11 AM until Service Time on Tuesday November 2, 2023, at Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Roger Spring Cemetery.

Born August 31, 1961, in Memphis Tennessee, Mr. Cardwell was the son of the late Doyle Edward and Ruth Cameil Ellis Cardwell. He received his education from Walnut High School and was employed in maintenance with Kirkwood for many years before his retirement. Mr. Cardwell had a servant’s heart and was continuously helping those in his community, along with volunteering at the Tippah County Good Samaritan Center.

A Christian and member of Mt Hebron Baptist Church, Mr. Cardwell was a true friend to many. He spent many hours participating in church activates, visiting with friends, and helping anyone he could. He was quite the outdoorsman and his favorite pastimes included hunting, riding four-wheelers, and shooting guns. He loved dotting on the children from church who he considered his nieces and nephews and never missed the opportunity to carry them lunch at school. Mr. Cardwell lived a life fully dedicated to others and his warm heartedness and selfless personality will truly be missed.

Those left to cherish his memories include his uncle Hasel D. Ellis, a host of cousins, his church family and the children he considered nieces and nephews, Gracie Hefner (Kagan), Amber Ray, Landon Burchfield, Brylie Burchfield, Madi Burchfield, and Baylee Thrasher.

He is also preceded in death by two brothers, Doyle Cardwell Jr. and Jackie Dean Cardwell.

The family request memorials be directed to the Tippah County Good Samaritan Center, 560 Main St, Walnut, MS.
