Glora ‘Jimmy’ Moran, 89

April 7, 1934  –  March 15, 2024

Glora Mae (Fabin) Moran, known by most as Jimmy, realized the promises of her faith and met her Lord at 2:03 AM Friday morning, March 15, 2024 at North Mississippi Health Services Hospice. Her transformation was less than a month before her 90th birthday. Born in Eskdale, Kanawha County, West Virginia on April 7, 1934 to the late Andrew Walter Fabin and Flora Pauline (Johnson) Fabin, Jimmy grew up in the West Virginia mountains. She graduated from East Bank High School and later attended West Virginia University.

She got into the finance industry early in her life first working at Home Finance. She began a career at The Travelers Insurance Company in 1958 where she learned well the surety bonds business. As a Secretary for George H. Friedlander Insurance and Bonds, she was privileged to write the Surety Bond on the famous New River Gorge Bridge near Fayettville, WV-the largest single span bridge in the USA. The Moran’s lived 10 years in Baton Rouge, Louisiana where she attended LSU and learned to love football (LSU Tigers) and the joy of tail-gaiting. They moved to the Tupelo area in 1997 when her husband, Bill, was hired to be Plant Manager at the FMC Corporation Complex.

When retirement time approached, Bill and Jimmy, with so many friends in Tupelo, decided to remain here after retirement. Jimmy was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church-Tupelo where she was active in the King Growth Sunday school class.

A jovial, fun loving, lady who possessed the ability to encourage others and make them laugh, Jimmy was known for making costumes such as Elvis Poodle Skirt outfits, “jail” clothes which she would wear that made others laugh, but her favorite was her “Minnie Pearl” outfit. She would often visit Assisted Living Homes in the area and entertain the residents much to their joy. Jimmy was an active member of the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary for over 25 years. She was a 50 plus year member of the National Insurance Women’s organization. She and Bill enjoyed 57 years of marriage.
