Herbert Reece Newby, 89

January 19, 1934 – December 21, 2023

Myrtle – Herbert Reece Newby, 89, passed away on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at his daughter’s residence. He was born January 19, 1934 in Union County, MS. to James Pernell Newby and Velma Gaines Newby. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He retired from Futorian after working there for thirty-seven years. He was a member of Open Door Baptist Church in Potts Camp. He loved reading the Bible and had read the New Testament 15 times during 2023 and the Old Testament 8 times during 2023.
He was a very loved father, grandfather and friend; and will be missed by all who loved him.
Visitation will be 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. at United Funeral Service. Bro. Caleb Willard and Joel Willard will officiate. Burial will be at Glenfield Memorial Park.
He is survived by one daughter, Karen Willard (David); one son, Alan Newby (Angela); eight grandchildren: Ginger Gann (Ken), Caleb Willard (Torrie), Joel Willard (Shayna), Lauren Jeter (Chase), Allie Lafever (Elgin), Mallory Robbins (Jon), Logan Newby and Cooper Newby; and by twenty great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Benefield Newby; his parents and a brother, Harold Newby.
