James Alton Brock, 72

June 7, 1951 – March 6, 2024

New Albany – James Alton Brock, 72, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi in Oxford. He was born on June 7, 1951 to James and Gladys Irwin Brock.
He was a devout Christian, loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a skilled tool and die machinist at MTD Industries in Verona, MS for forty-two years.
Al, as he was known by, loved spending time with family. He most loved every summer where he spent his time with family at Pickwick Lake. He loved off-road riding and the water with his daughter, son-in-law and grandkids. When he wasn’t at Pickwick riding the trails, he could be found out in his shop with his antique cars. He had a collection of cars that ranged from the 60’s to the 2000’s. He could often be found at a car show or simply cruising around in one of his old cars.
Also, he was an avid coon hunter. In his younger days he, his father and two brothers trained and hunted night after night, winning competitions.
Alton was a kind man that could always be found lending a helping hand or visiting someone to say a kind word to. He is deeply loved by family and many friends and will be great missed.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at United Funeral Service. Funeral services will be on Monday, March 11, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Bro. Bobby Casteel and Bro. Phillip Brock officiating. Graveside services will be at Glenfield Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Denita Freeman Brock; two daughters, Jennifer Brock Hudson (James) and Candise Michelle Perilli; one sister, Joyce Langston (Ricky); one brother, Johnny Brock (Lisa); nine grandchildren: Austin, Lee, Brooklyn, Chance, Chelsey, Chandler, Alyssa, and Dakota; and one great grandson, Zeddi.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Tracy Lynn Forthman; a grandson, Hunter Alton Boutain; and a brother, Joe Dalton Brock.
