James Arnold “Splutter” Williams, 66

March 8, 1957 – December 7, 2023

James Arnold “Splutter” Williams, 66, passed away peacefully December 7, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones.



Funeral Service honoring the life of our friend Splutter will be 2 PM Tuesday December 12, 2023, at Essary Springs Baptist Church in Tennessee with Bro. Terrell Gatewood officiating. Visitation will be 5 PM until 9 PM Monday December 11, 2023, at Essary Springs Baptist Church and will continue 10 AM until Service Time on Tuesday. Burial will follow in the Essary Spring Cemetery.

Born March 8, 1957, in Hardeman County, TN, Splutter was the son of the late Luther Leroy and Dorthy Lavera Williams. He received his education from Pocahontas Hish School and was employed as an engineer with the U. S. Army Corp for twenty plus years before his retirement.

A Christian and quiet, easy-going man, Splutter enjoyed the simple things in life. He loved being on his Harley and just riding and enjoying God’s creation. Another one of his favorite pastimes included using his camera to take pictures of anything and everything, that he often would give copies of to his family members. A selfless soul who was always there for his family, Splutter lived a purpose filled life and his caring personality and gentle nature will be remembered always by those whose lives he touched most.

Those left to cherish his memories include his stepdaughter, Kelby Voyles, two brothers, Danny Williams (Kathy) and Junior Crum (Rita), a special sister-in-law, Melissa Williams, two nieces, Angie Ray (James) and Misty Hughes, three nephews, Bryan Williams (Chantel), Bo Moore, and Tyler Williams, and a host of additional nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, cousins, family, and friends.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Richerson, two brothers, Daniel Williams and David Williams, and a special friend, Connie Voyles.
