John Wesley Lumpkin, 80

Batesville-John Wesley Lumpkin, 80, a man who loved the Lord and preached the Gospel, departed this life for his heavenly home on Sunday, September 17, 2023. He was born September 3, 1943 to Jewel and Overa Jones Lumpkin. He was a hardworking man in construction and later in life he was the owner/operator of Lumpkin Transportation. Brother Lumpkin was a problem solver and could fix anything. Most of all Brother Lumpkin was a soul winner for the Lord. He cherished his family and treasured any time spent with them. He was a member of Open Door Apostolic Church.
Services to honor a life well lived will be on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at United Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Bill Haney and Bro. Michael Lumpkin officiating. A visitation will also be on Wednesday from 12 noon till the start of the service.
Those left behind to carry on his memories include, the mother of his children, Janie Lumpkin, two daughters, Darlene Haney (Bill) and Stacia Lewis one son, Mark Lumpkin (Leslie),one daughter-in-law Kathy Lumpkin, three sisters, Maxine Willis, Gerldine Orman, and Ann Taylor, one brother, Joe Lumpkin (Emily), seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren with two on the way.
He is preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronnie Lumpkin, one brother, Gary Lumpkin, and one grandchild, Zach Johnson.
