Mary Jane Grigsby Murchison, 65

September 21, 1958 – November 26th, 2023

Mary Jane Grigsby Murchison, age 65, passed away suddenly on November 26th, 2023. Jane, as we called her, was also affectionately known as the meat lady, Calamity Jane, and Crazy Jane by her friends and family.

Jane was a talker, and her friends would often say “Shut up Jane” which never failed to make her laugh. Jane loved making others laugh, even at her own expense, and she always had crazy stories to share.

Jane enjoyed her job as a meat wrapper in  Memphis, TN. This is just one of the reasons she was called the meat lady. She loved being Midtown’s meat lady, and enjoyed talking to her customers who also became friends. When not working, she enjoyed grilling in the backyard (not surprising to anyone who knew Jane), having bonfires, fishing, and cheering on her favorite sports teams. One of her favorite teams was the Denver Broncos, which created a fun rivalry with her son every time they played the Kansas City Chiefs.

Some of her favorite memories were spent with her closest friends, either by hanging out at their favorite bar or going on road trips, especially to Gulf Shores Alabama.

Jane had so many loves, but nothing could top the love she had for her friends, dogs Ginger and Gronk, and most of all her family. She loved going to Arkansas to spend time with her beloved brother and sister in law. She also loved going up to Michigan to see her son, daughter in law, and grandchildren. She couldn’t wait to retire so she could spend more time with them.

While saddened by Jane’s sudden loss, her friends and family are comforted to know that she’s with her loved ones; parents Fred T. Grigsby and Mary Helen Grigsby, brother Tommy, nephew Justin and cherished dog Ginger. Jane is survived by her son Timothy (Mayghen), grandchildren; Joshua (Lexi), Rachel, Kaitlyn (Garrett), and Jonathen (Hunter), her brother Terry (Tammy), her nephews, and much loved dog Gronk.
