There were flappers, felons and foul play at the Union County Heritage Museum
There was a murder at the Union County Heritage Museum Friday, and another was likely to occur Saturday.
More accurately, the crime occurred at Mickey Macaroni’s Roaring Twenties club. The setting was the eighth murder mystery dinner presented by the New Albany theatre group.
Each dinner includes a four-course meal interspersed with scenes depicting the aftermath of some murder. Diners listen to the characters and have an opportunity to question them in an effort to determine the guilty party. The table group that identifies the villain and motive wins a prize.
While this mystery, Felons, Flappers and Foul Play, was set in the Twenties, others have ranged from pirate adventures to Broadway.
The murder mystery dinners sell out and draw people from as far as out of state. A few people who just happened to be passing through the area have even stayed to participate.
This mystery was at the Union County Heritage Museum while others have been at the Magnolia Room of the New Albany Civic Center.
The next murder mystery will be presented in about three months and, due to demand, will be presented three nights instead of two. Tickets are $30.
(The accompanying photos were made before the crime was solved so it was not known whether Mickey Macaroni, the big boss’ brother; the big boss’ moll Bunny Hugg; Macaroni brothers’ lieutenant Tommy Gunn; club singer Sherry Shimmy or bartender Guy Sendalls was the guilty party.)
