Fire crews of the New Albany Fire Department (NAFD) entertained 250 New Albany Kindergarten and pre-school students Friday, Sept. 18, with a fire safety program.
“We put together 250 bags of fire prevention and fire safety items to give to the students,” said NAFD Chief Mark Whiteside. “We gave them to each child when they came through and talked with firefighters.
“Our philosophy on this falls right in with the Community Risk Reduction plans we are working on to reach each and every household one way or another to educate our citizens on safety,” said Whiteside.
“If we can reach one person through education at our local schools and the information is taken home and passed on to their families, then the time, effort, money, and training is worth every cent spent,” said the fire chief.
Reaching 250 students plus teachers and staff is a great start toward preparing for fire prevention week in October.
National Fire Prevention Week this year is Sunday, October 3 through Saturday October 9, 2021.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_gallery type=”image_grid” images=”55253,55250,55251,55249″ img_size=”300 x 200″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”55259″ alignment=”center” onclick=”custom_link” img_link_target=”_blank” link=”http://fpw.org”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
