Rhonda Cook, 59

May 19, 1964 – November 14, 2023

TUPELO – Ms. Rhonda Goodin Cook, 59, of Tupelo, transitioned to her heavenly home Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at North MS Medical Center. She is survived by her children, Bruce Mapp (Daleana) of New Albany, John T. Cook, Jade Cook, and London Cook, all of Falkner; her twin sister, Robin Robbins (Sean) of Tupelo, and her mother Linda Vaughn Gibson of Tupelo; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

Rhonda grew up in Dekalb, MS, where she and her twin sister Robin were active in beauty pageants, school band, cheerleading, and many Diabetes events and retreats. They were known to the community as the “twins” because they were identical. Rhonda’s bond with Robin was unbreakable. She and Robin could just be together, and at some point they would always touch each other, especially if they were sick, and immediately they would get better. Both were diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at a young age of 6 and 8, and their mother made sure that they were given the best of care. Those were her babies and she always made sure they were okay, where they were, and what they were doing. They were well known at the DeKalb Hospital and received great care while they were there, because it was the “Goodin Twins.”

Rhonda’s great joys were her children. She was always a dedicated mother to them despite her health. She has always been so proud of them and where they are in life with their careers. She had a smile and could make you laugh with her just being herself with that Southern voice she and Robin have. If you had the pleasure of knowing her, you knew she was your friend and would speak her mind, making you love her even more. She loved holidays, especially Christmas decorating the house from top to bottom and Santa Clauses and Angel Ornaments.

Rhonda was preceded in death by her father, Oscar Bruce Goodin (Shelby) of Dekalb, MS.
