Richard Wayne Westmoreland, 58, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 9, 2023 at his mothers home following an extended illness.



Funeral Services honoring the life of Mr. Westmoreland will be 2 PM Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Potts Camp First Baptist Church with Bro. Terry Floyd officiating. Visitation will be 5 PM until 8 PM Friday, November 10, 2023 at Potts Camp First Baptist Church and will continue Saturday at 1 PM until Service Time. Burial will follow in Temperance Hill Cemetery.

Born November 21, 1964 in New Albany, Mr. Westmoreland is the son of Patricia Williams Westmoreland and the late Tommy Westmoreland. He was a 1983 graduate of Hickory Flat High School and proudly served his country with the United States Army. A hard worker, he worked 29 years in the maintenance department with Blue Mountain College and Union County Health and Rehab.

A Christian, Mr. Westmoreland was a jack of all trades. He was a skilled shade tree mechanic, talented artist, and founded North Mississippi Storm Chase 1. His favorite pastimes included cooking, shooting pool, picking the guitar, spending time with his pets, and jamming out to “Hotel California” by his favorite band, The Eagles. Mr. Westmoreland lived a full life whose outgoing spirit, friendly personality and sunny disposition will be missed by those who knew and loved him most.

Those left to cherish memories include his wife, Malissia Westmoreland, his mother, Patricia Williams Westmoreland, two daughters, Tiffany Westmoreland and Monica Wakefield (Chris), five sons, Richard Allen Westmoreland (Brittany), Chris Westmoreland, Sam Westmoreland, Andrew Westmoreland (Brianna), and Mathew Pannell, one sister, Robin Smith (Barry), one brother, Larry Westmoreland (Mary Ann), and eight grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, Tommy Westmoreland.
