Roy Davis Alexander, 78

Roy Davis Alexander, 78, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2023 at Baptist Memorial Hospital- Union County in New Albany. He was born October 17, 1938 to George and Marie Bailey Alexander. He was a former district manager for Midwest Ice Cream and had six businesses in New Albany. In 1968, he started in the car business, where he would work in car sales over the years, from general manager, manager, wholesale dealer and self-employed. He was also a former candidate for Public Service Commissioner. In 1983, Roy was asked to put his Bible in the cornerstone of Wildwood Baptist Church in Tupelo.
He always loved and cared for everyone.
He is survived by daughters, Phyllis Uzzle of Pearl, MS and Teresa A. Smith of New Albany; and like-his-own son, Robert Clay Pannell of Olive Branch; three grandsons, John Davis Grant and Michael Alexander Grant, both of Pearl, and Dustin Cory Broadway of New Albany; two grandsons, Bennett Broadway and Owen Broadway; two sisters, Lavern Parks of New Albany and Shirley Kinpin Hinkley (Larry); and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doris Haynes Alexander; and a brother, Roger Alexander.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be on Thursday, November 2023 at 10:00 a.m. All times will be at United Funeral Service in New Albany. Burial will be at Lee Memorial Park in Verona. United Funeral Service is honored to be entrusted with these arrangements.
