New Albany-Sarah Gailor Duncan, 97, of New Albany, MS, died Thursday, November 30, 2023 at Magnolia Place in New Albany. She was born September 5, 1926, in Dumas to Johnie Edward and Effie Hill Mize, and she was the tiniest of twelve kids, that why they called her “Toy”. She enjoyed many things in life such as knitting, crocheting, sewing, and cooking. She enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren
She is survived by seven of her eight children and two of her three step children. She also raised two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Her children, Patricia Snyder of New Albany, Larry Gailor of Lake Mohawk, Freda Prather (Walter) of Baldwyn, Judy Gailor of New Albany, Kim Steward of New Albany, Bonita Roman (Ozzie) of Shalimar, FL, Marty Gailor of New Albany, Timmy Gailor (Sandra) of New Albany, Megan Taylor (Chad) of New Albany, Liz Duncan Miraglia and Mike Duncan. She 23 grandchildren and a host of great grands.
She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Fred Wilson Gailor, her second husband William “Cliff” Duncan, eleven siblings, son Garry Gailor, granddaughter, Kathy Gailor, grandson Gary Alan Goldman Jr, her step daughter, Shirley Duncan, one son-in-law David Steward and two daughter-in-law’s, Winnie Gailor and Brenda Gailor.
Services to honor her life will be on Sunday, December 3, at 3:00 p.m. at United Funeral Service with Rev. Walter Prather Jr., and Rev. David Baswell. Her granddaughter, Shonda Baswell will give a Eulogy. Son-in-law, Ozzie Roman will give the prayer. Visitation will be on Saturday night from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Sunday from 2:00 until the start of the service. All will be at United. Burial will be at Glenfield Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Lee Campbell, Robert Adams, Stephen Pettigo, Chad Taylor, Chad Gailor, Bryson Baswell,
Honorary Pallbearers, Jeremy McMillan, Shane McMillan, Narada Snyder, Jerry Holt, Ozzie Roman, Lawrence Gailor.
