Scott Morris, 73

February 28, 1950 – December 29, 2023

Scott Morris, 73, a resident of the West Union community, peacefully passed away at Sunshine Healthcare of Pontotoc on December 29, 2023. Born in Union County, MS, on February 28, 1950, to Thomas William Morris, Jr. and Thelma Reed Morris, Scott’s life was characterized by a deep connection to his family and a passion for his community.

Scott was a distinguished graduate of the Mississippi College School of Law, reflecting his dedication to education and knowledge. His achievements were not only academic but also extended to the relationships he built throughout his life. Scott is survived by his brothers Kenneth Morris and his wife Carolyn of Tupelo and Tommy Morris of Olive Branch. His special friend, Ms. Betty Scott of Shannon, held a cherished place in his heart.

Preceded in death by his parents and his brother Jimmy Morris, Scott’s departure leaves a void in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Despite the challenges life presented, Scott found solace in his faith. Although he was a Methodist by upbringing, he attended Shannon Baptist alongside his dear friend, Ms. Betty Scott.

In the later years of his life, Scott moved into Sunshine Healthcare, where he discovered a sense of community and spiritual fulfillment by actively participating in church services and devotionals. He cherished the bonds formed with fellow residents and staff members.

Scott’s interests were diverse, ranging from a fervent love for Ole Miss Sports to the simple pleasure of watching game shows. His enthusiasm for these pastimes brought joy to those who shared in these moments with him.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date to celebrate Scott’s life and commemorate the impact he had on those around him. In honoring his memory, let us remember the warmth, kindness, and love that Scott Morris shared throughout his remarkable journey. May he rest in peace.
