Stanley Earlston “Steamer” Allen, 73, passed away peacefully September 10, 2023, at his home in Ingomar surrounded by loved ones.



Services celebrating the life of Mr. Allen will be held at a later date. New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care will be handling all arrangements.

Mr. Allen was born April 30, 1949, in New Albany to the late Eugene and HermaRee Clark Allen. He received his education from the Ingomar Public School System and enlisted in the United States Army serving his country during the Vietnam War. A hard worker, Mr. Allen was a carpenter and truck driver for fifty-eight years in the north Mississippi area and was married for fifty-four years to his beloved wife, Mary Fran Gresham Allen, who survives.

A Christian and member of Amaziah Baptist Church, Mr. Allen’s favorite pastimes included hunting, fishing, riding motorcycles, attending drag races, and being outdoors watching squirrels. A friend to all, he will be remembered for his strong-willed personality, exceptional people skills and easy-going nature to those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his wife, memories will continue to be shared by one son, James Earlston Allen (Tina), two sisters, Beverly Smith and Cindy Jones, one brother, Michael Allen, and three grandchildren.

He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Sheila Allen.
