Tina Harris, 54

July 10, 1969  –  March 3, 2024

PONTOTOC – Mrs. Tina Miller Harris, 54, died Sunday, March 3, 2024, at North MS Medical Center following an extended illness. Tina was born July 10, 1969, in Mayfield, Kentucky to the marital union of the late Darrell Miller and Linda Hester Miller, who survives. Tina spent her growing up years in Mayfield, KY graduating from Graves County High School.



On October 8, 1988, she married the love of her life, Britt Alan Harris, and moved to Newton Co., MS. She briefly attended Murray State University in Kentucky and later attended East Central Community College. She later completed her studies receiving a BA Degree in Elementary Education from Mississippi State University. She ultimately earned her MA in Education also from MSU. A revered educator all her life, Tina taught 6th graders at Newton County Elementary School in Decatur, MS. She later taught GED classes for East Central Community College in the state prison system. Before retiring in 2016, she completed her award-winning educational career at East Central Community College where she was Basic Skill Coordinator for the Workforce Development Center.

A people person who loved all unconditionally, Tina enjoyed sewing, hanging out around the pool, and traveling to the Smokey Mountains as often as possible. A perpetual encourager, she loved sending cards and letters to those sick, hurting or just needing a boost. An avid reader, she was most recently a member of the West Main St. Church of Christ in Tupelo. For the many years in Decatur, she and Britt were active and faithful members of the Union Church of Christ teaching Sunday School for 6- to 12-year-olds. Her family was her treasure, and she loved her husband supremely, her siblings and all her nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be at 3 PM Wednesday, March 6, 2024, in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors in Tupelo with Elder Thurman Hodge officiating. Burial will follow in Black Zion Cemetery in Pontotoc, MS. Visitation will be Wednesday from 1 PM to service time only. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to serve the family.

Survivors include her mother, Linda Hester Miller of Mayfield, KY; husband, Britt Harris of Pontotoc; sister, Tammy “Sissy” Riley (Stacey) and 2 brothers, Kenneth Miller and Kyle Miller (Shelly), all of Mayfield, KY; several nieces, nephews and their families; multiple church children she and Britt claimed as their own. She was preceded in death by her father, Darrell Edward Miller.

Pallbearers will be Gary Harris, David Dickson, Paul Harris, Kenneth Miller, Kyle Miller, and Stacey Riley.
