Walter David Walker was born on April 28, 1934, in Rockford, IL to William Walker and Caroline Lockhart Walker and was one of seven children. He was a 1952 graduate of East High School in Rockford. He joined the United States Air force in 1953 and served until 1957 when he received an honorable discharge. He spent time at several bases in the US as well as completing an overseas assignment in Okinawa Japan.  He then attended college at Rock Valley College earning an AA degree in 1968 and went on to complete a BSBA degree at Northern Illinois University in 1971.  He began his career at Barber Colman Company where he met his wife, Peggy Robertson at an annual dinner for employees. Walt spent most of his career in the manufacturing environment designing production control and information management systems for various companies. He retired in 2004.  In his retirement years he made music CDs for his two sisters, producing a CD of the month for several years.  He took great care and research in creating these CD collections designing themes and sometimes creating an introduction in his own words.  Some of his favorite singers were John Gary, Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Jo Stafford, and Eddie Arnold.

Walt and Peggy married on May 11, 1963, in Rockford, IL and had three children.  They moved from Rockford in 1978 to Tupelo, MS where they lived for 35 years.  They attended the Gloster Street Church of Christ where Walt served as an Elder. They moved to Walnut, MS in 2018 to be closer to family. Walt will now rest with his sweetheart of 59 years, exactly where he has longed to be for the past several months.

Walter is survived by his three children, Kim Jennings (Trent) of Texas, Tim Walker (Teresa) of Walnut, Kriss Blankenship of Plantersville, a grandson Drew Jennings of Texas, and a sister Marcy Hegeler of California.
