Betty Warren, 79

July 10, 1944 – October 3, 2023

Tupelo- Betty Harville Warren passed peacefully in her home Tuesday, October 3, 2023, evening surrounded by her loving husband, children and grandchildren. She had battled a long illness and was on home hospice for the third time.

Betty was a devout Christian and steadfast in her faith. She was a faithful member of Whitehaven Primitive Baptist church for 27 years where her husband, Elder Calvin Warren preached. More recently she attended both Mt. Harmon and Enon Primitive Baptist churches.

A 1959 Christmas party was where Betty met the love of her life at the age of 15. The story goes Calvin saw Betty a few weeks prior to the party dancing on a stump in her yard. As he passed by, he was immediately smitten but went unnoticed by Betty. Calvin found out who that pretty girl was and invited her to a Christmas party. Betty chose to attend that Christmas party and the rest is a beautiful love story. They were married on August 20, 1960. Betty was a loving, kind and devoted wife. She and Calvin were known for their warmness and affection of one another, always expressing their love by holding hands and kissing throughout their 63-year marriage. She had the most brilliant blue eyes that would light up when Calvin, her sweetie, came into the room even after a brief trip outside. To be around them was to witness true unconditional love. Their marriage was playful and fun, and any disagreement was short lived and healed with laughter and the words, “I love you”. Together they raised three amazing children.

Betty was known for her honesty, kindness, and sass. She was a fantastic cook and always cooked more than enough so that she would never let anyone go hungry in her home. Her most famous and requested dish was spaghetti. Betty knew how to be a good friend and had many friends that she loved and cared about deeply.

She is preceded in death by her father, Jeff Harville; mother, Etta Robison Harville; and brother, Jeff “J.W.” Harville.

She is survived by her husband, Elder Calvin Warren; three children, Kimberly Warren, Tammie Warren Wise (Rusty); and the baby and probable favorite, Kavin Warren (Beth Anne); four grandchildren, Brittany Womack (Judson), Victoria Wise, Peyton Warren, and Emilee Warren; and one great- grandchild that added so much joy and light to her life, Eleanor Womack.

Visitation will be 5 until 8 p.m. Thursday, October 5, 2023, and one hour prior to services Friday, October 6, 2023, at Pegues, Tupelo

Services honoring her life will be 2 p.m. Friday, October 6, 2023, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues with Elder Rusty Wise officiating and family remarks by her husband, Elder Calvin Warren. Graveside services will follow in Zion Presbyterian Cemetery.
