Katherine Gaston Harris, 80

August 8, 1943 – January 16, 2024

Mother Katherine Gaston Harris was born into time unto the lineage of the late Mr. William Gaston(Bill) and the Late Mrs. Azie Lee Agnew Fairconatue on August 08, 1943 in Guntown Ms. She was called into eternal rest on January 16th 2024 around 10:30 am while she was surrounded by family.

Mother Katherine was reared in the communities of Blair, Saltillo and Guntown MS and would receive her education from what was formerly known as Lowe High School. She was a very classy woman but yet believed in putting in a day’s hard work. She worked for various factories as well as spending most of her years working in the Tupelo Public school district doing what she loved to do best, that is serving and caring for others, especially the children.

She was a Foster Mother and received Foster Parent of the year after retiring and then re-enlisting back into the program once she had raised all of her children and most of her grandchildren. Because of her gentleness, her loving yet firm disciplinary stance, her eagerness to help others and to let no child be abused, misused, abandon or neglected, she became famously known as “Momma Kat” to most everyone who would encounter her.

Mother Katherine professed Christ at an early age and later would receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost where should would live the remainder of her life Saved, Sanctified and Filled with the Holy Ghost always giving God the praise and being a beacon of light for those who might have felt there was no hope. She often stated “I’ve Got a Feeling that Everything is Gonna be Alright” and then she would praise God in advance for it!

She was bold and fueled with fire but gentle as a dove with a heart of gold. She was an active member of Temple of Compassion for 36 years until her health failed her where she served on various teams such as the President of the Adult Usher Board, Pastor Aid Team, Head Janitor, Cook on Kitchen Committee and she served on a community Board founded by her Pastor Bishop Parks, C. O. M.E.

She had a passion for cooking, there was no dish, big or small that she couldn’t make taste like she brought a little bit of heaven here on earth for it. She was the Master Chef! Mother Katherine would share over 62 years of Holy Matrimony with the late Mr. James Matthew Harris and to this union that would indeed be fruitful and multiply the earth.

Mother Harris leaves to cherish her memories (2) sons: Milton Harris, Albert Harris, both of Saltillo MS. Mother Katherine Harris was truly our Proverb 31 Mother. Her worth is far more valuable than Rubies, her husband had full confidence in her, she provided for her family and worked eagerly with her hands. She opened her arms to the poor and she extended her hands to the needy, so then her children, and her children children, children would Rise and called her Blessed! Our Queen Mother Katherine Gaston Harris will truly be missed by all.
