Maria Theresia Settlemires, 81

January 9, 1942 – November 21, 2023

On Tuesday, November 21, 2023, Maria Theresia Settlemires, 81, resident of Ripley, passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home.



Funeral Services honoring the life of Mrs. Settlemires will be at 11 AM Saturday, November 25 in The Heritage Chapel of Ripley Funeral Home with Bro. Randy Hamilton officiating. Visitation will be from 5 PM – 8 PM Friday, November 24 and will continue Saturday, November 25 from 9 AM to service time at Ripley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Shiloh Cemetery near Ripley.

Born January 9, 1942, in Germany, Mrs. Settlemires is the daughter of the late Konrad and Elisie Marz Metzing and on October 4, 1979, she married her beloved husband, Paul Settlemires who survives.  Working in the manufacturing industry in Tippah County for 24 years, Mrs. Settlemires enjoyed her main role as wife, mother and grandmother. A Christian and member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, she will be remembered for the love of family and grandchildren, who were her pride and joy. Traveling, cooking, shopping, antiques and decorating her home were just a few of her favorite pastimes.

In addition to her husband of 44 years, memories will be cherished by two daughters, Julie Clardy (Bill) and Peggy Marks (Mitchell), one son, Steven Paul (Christy), one sister, Anita Heitbrock, sixteen grandchildren, Johnathan Cissom, Brian Cissom, Justin Cissom, Kirby Carter, Ashley Jones, Brent Cissom, Kara Brock, Allen Towery, Collin Paul, Joshua Paul, Billy Clardy, Jason Clardy, Jenny Wilson, Matt Clardy, Max Marks, and Caleb Marks and thirty great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra Rainey.
