Tallahatchie Riverfest and Faulkner Month: big times “down by the riverside”

This year’s Tallahatchie Riverfest will see more of its events taking place “down by the riverside.”

The Riverfest venue changes puts most events within easy walking distance of each other, and saved enough in production expenses to add a fireworks show to close out this year’s festival. On Saturday, there will be musical performances from noon until about 4PM at the Tanglefoot Trailhead Plaza, and merchants will be having sidewalk sales.

On Friday night, the popular Community Ford ferris wheel will open for business, and there will be a “hometown musical showcase,” featuring Allison’s Rage, Cadillac Funk and the Spunkmonkees, all from Union County.

Saturday morning will begin early with the BNA Tallahatchie River Run 5K and a half-mile fun run for kids. By noon, music will begin at the Trailhead Plaza, food vendors will open up, downtown sidewalk sales will be underway, and, by the river, the market area will open and kids activities, pony rides included, will begin. There is a pet contest and parade in the kid’s area at 4:00 PM.

Then get your seats near the CSpire River Stage for an evening of  free music with: the Eisenhauer Band; Raelyn Nelson (granddaughter of the famous “Willie”); Drew Holcomb & the Neighbors. Next, Paul Thorn’s performance will complete the musical part of the evening, followed by a professional fireworks display to close out the 2015 Tallahatchie Riverfest.

What happened to the good entertainment that they used to have at Riverfest? They had groups like Confederate Railroad and other professional singers, I would drive to see groups like that but not what you have this year because I have never heard of them…Get some Professional Southern Gospel Groups..PLEASE..
